Homewood-Flossmoor High School Viking Orchestra members will be raising funds at Saturday’s Flossmoor Fest from 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. for their spring trip to Cuba.
Orchestra members will be at Flossmoor Park on the east side of the Metra tracks in downtown Flossmoor. Weather permitting, orchestra members will perform. They will staff a booth in the park offering refreshments and face painting for kids.
Students also will be selling flower bulbs and offering tickets for the H-F Foundation’s annual $500 prize raffle. The orchestra keeps a portion of the profits from tickets sold.
Each year a group of H-F students in the music program travels and performs. The upcoming trip for the orchestra over spring break has students leaving March 23 for a seven-day trip performing in Havana, Remedios and Santa Clara. They also will participate in a workshop with local musicians in Havana.
