Golf outing to benefit special needs children and adults

New Star, a not-for-profit organization serving special needs children and adults in the South Suburbs, is hosting its annual “Fore” the Future Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 25. The event at Idlewild Country Club, 18860 Dixie Highway in Homewood, will include a barbeque lunch on the terrace, 18 holes of golf, games, prizes, cocktails and a buffet dinner. All-inclusive golf packages are $175 per person, and dinner-only packages are $55 per person.   Sponsorships are still available and range from $175 to $3,500. Event proceeds support job training and employment, daily life . . .

Winter events



  • Nanny Nikki holiday music program at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., at 11 a.m.
  • You Matter 2 Winter Wonderland from noon to 4 p.m. at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road. Holiday fun and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets are $5 to $10 at bit.ly/3VLh2m4.
  • Miracle on Martin in downtown Homewood, 3 to 6 p.m. Ice sculpture walk, horse-drawn carriage rides, s’mores and more.
