Covert courage

Homewood-Flossmoor High School invites the community to its 3rd Annual Pursuing the Dream program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Mall Auditorium.

The program, founded by alumnus Andre Thomas when he was a senior at H-F, is dedicated to celebrating black history and encouraging unity. The event will feature theme-based performances by the H-F Band, H-F Steppers and members of H-F’s choirs and speech team.

Guest speaker is Andre Hughes, a retired global managing partner at Accenture. During his nearly 25 years there, he founded and grew two billion-dollar businesses and led the company’s human capital, inclusion and diversity, and corporate citizenship program.

Hughes received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He serves on the boards of the Chicago Urban League, Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management – Business Opportunity Program, the Presidential Council for Economic Growth and Development in Haiti and LeaderShape.
