GSU Special Olympics car and motorcycle show benefit

On Friday, Sept. 8, Governors State University will host its first Car and Motorcycle Show, sponsored by the Department of Public Safety and the GSU Library. The 4 to 8 p.m. event in east lots 2 and 3 will benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Officer Lee Taylor of the GSU Department of Public Safety said, “There’s a long history of partnership between law enforcement in Illinois and Special Olympics, and we’re very excited to be bringing that partnership to GSU.” Specialty car and motorcycle owners are invited to participate.   • Nanny Nikki holiday music program at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., at 11 a.m.

  • Miracle on Martin in downtown Homewood, 3 to 6 p.m. Ice sculpture walk, horse-drawn carriage rides, s’mores and more.
