The Grande Prairie Singers will hold open auditions for all new singers on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace Church, 266 Somonauk in Park Forest.
Now in its fifth decade, the group will open its season with a Christmas-themed concert on Dec. 10, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Matteson. A Grande Prairie Cabaret concert, highlighting the individual talents of the 40-plus member voices, will take place on March 11, 2018, and a bluegrass concert, featuring some of the best bluegrass musicians in the area, will be held on May 20, 2018. The last two concerts will be held in Park Forest.
Founded in 1977, the Grande Prairie Singers, the adult vocal arm of Grande Prairie Choral Arts (GPCA), has been a fixture in the South Suburbs. Most recently it has performed with both the Illinois Philharmonic and Southwest Symphony Orchestra. Two years ago the organization was inducted into the Park Forest Hall of Fame.
