Homewood music icon William Luke dies

If the sale of Holiday Lights keepsake mugs is a barometer of success, the first Miracle on Martin event in Homewood on Saturday was a winner.The mugs, which were offered during the Holiday Lights festival on Dec. 1, sold out midway through the event. Residents soon were posting on local social media pages wondering whether more would be available.Lauren Roman, a member of the Homewood Community Relations Committee, said another 200 mugs arrived in time for Miracle on Martin.   • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
