Homewood schools will begin work on new strategic plan

The gingerbread house — a sign of the holiday season — was the class project for second graders at Willow School on Thursday, Dec. 14. Teacher Heather Fraser said the craft project is a long-standing tradition. Parents pitch in by providing the makings of the gingerbread house.  The children work in teams of four with a parent volunteer to supervise. After building the house from graham crackers, the children are given an ice cream cone that can be turned into a tree, Peeps (they’re not just for Easter!), marshmallows, pretzels and candy galore.  It all comes . . .

  • Pride Party at the Flossmoor Community Church Community House, 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor. The family-friendly event will have food, music and other entertainment from 5 to 8 p.m.
