H-F theater students present “Serial” as first performance of the year

Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s Leaders in Theatre Ensemble opens the 2017-18 theater performance season with the presentation of “Serial” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17, 18 and 19, in the school’s Mall Auditorium.

The production of “Serial” is based on the groundbreaking National Public Radio podcast by the creators of the show “This American Life.” It tells a true crime story about Adnan Syed, who has been in prison for 15 years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, while the two were in high school in Maryland. Did he do it? “Serial” rips open the case, examines evidence, re-questions witnesses to shed light on what really happened on that fateful day that changed the lives of so many.

Ensemble cast members are:

Charles Austin, Zoe Bridges, Barbara Burns, Joseph Cipriano, Amya Hampton, Amber Jackson, Jack Johnson, Ava Jones, Michael Kennedy, Jonathan Kriarakis, Leanna Lewis, Laila Malak, Dylan Mitchell, Maddie Moxley, Noelle Oh, Jacob Rodriguez, Jaira Stanley, Maggie Sullivan, Kevin Thompson and Brianna Valentine.
