Fencing was installed this week at the former Citgo gas station in the 2100 block of 183rd Street in Homewood. Village officials have been informed the storage tanks are slated to be removed next week.
The village has not received notice about the fate of the building, according to Mayor Richard Hofeld.
The site is one the village identified for acquisition when it joined the South Suburban Land Bank and Development Authority in 2015.
