Elmer “Hank” Bausch was sworn in as a Flossmoor police officer at the July 5 village board meeting.
Bausch began his employment with the village on June 26 and is undergoing the 13-week field-training phase of his probationary period.
A graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Bausch was also a member of the Flossmoor Fire Department as a firefighter and paramedic from 2010 to 2015.
He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and served on the Chicago Police Department from December 2015 until he joined the Flossmoor force.
Deputy Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said Bausch brings respect and tested experience to the department.
“Although the time Officer Bausch spent as a police officer with the Chicago Police Department was relatively short in duration, he was exposed to a myriad of law-enforcement experiences and training,” Kamleiter said. “He comes to us already having knowledge of our communities core values.”
