Democratic forum for governor’s race candidates July 22 at PSC

Eight candidates running for Illinois governor will appear at a July 22 forum at the Barnes & Noble Auditorium at Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. The program, from 10 a.m. to noon, is hosted by the Democratic Women of the South Suburbs, with participation from Indivisible South Suburban Chicago.Moderator Craig Dellimore of WBBM News Radio 780 will address the candidates using written questions submitted by forum guests. Candidates who have accepted the invitation are: Illinois Sen. Daniel Biss;  Bob Daiber, Madison County schools superintendent; Illinois Rep. Scott Drury; Tio Hardiman . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
