Two Flossmoor originals show off character, charm of 1903 homes

The holiday season returns to downtown Flossmoor with a host of Winterfest activities on Dec. 9 from 2 to 5 p.m.Winterfest, sponsored by the village of Flossmoor, will have additional activities this year in partnership with local businesses.The menorah and Christmas tree lighting will take place at 5:15 p.m. in a new location at Flossmoor Park. Other activities will take place at Park Place, the meeting room in the former warming house at Flossmoor Park. Wiley’s will have a concession area there.Santa will greet children in the Flossmoor Library starting at 2 . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
