Studio 1227 July-Aug 2017

The James Hart School Bands will present their annual Fall Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the school, 18820 Morgan Ave. in Homewood. The performance will feature a varied repertoire for the sixth-grade varsity band and the seventh- and eighth-grade combined symphonic band.  “Students and we band directors are enthusiastic about presenting the first public concert of the year,” said director Matthew D. Johnson, who is assisted by Kim Tallungan. The James Hart Symphonic Band opened their performance schedule earlier this month alongside the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Marching Vikings . . .

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
