Homewood-Flossmoor residents have a number of options for celebrating Independence day, from local parades and the annual Family Fun Fest to area fireworks displays.

Tuesday, July 4
- 8 a.m., Run for Freedom 5K run hosted by the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District at Lions Club Park, 1041 Ridge Road, Homewood. Registration starts at 7 a.m.
- 10 a.m., Independence Day Parade down Flossmoor Road in downtown Flossmoor features a decorated kids bike parade, a demonstration of fire department operations. Refreshments will be provided by members of the volunteer fire department. Information is at Flossmoor.org.
- 10 a.m., Homewood’s 4th of July parade kicks off from Ridge and Dixie and heads east on Ridge Road to the Izaak Walton Preserve.
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Family Fun Fest at Izaak Walton Preserve hosted by the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District. Special pricing is available for games and activities. Details are at #summerkickstarter or hfparks.com.

- Main Park, 200 S. Locust Street in Frankfort. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Live music 7:30 to 9 p.m., concessions and kids activities from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. There is a $10 fee for unlimited access to inflatables, kids carnival games and DJ dance party. More information: 815-469-2177.
