​Walkers and supporters raised more than $75,000 in the Cancer Support Center’s Walk of Hope on Oct. 1.
 

Organizers expect the total to go higher as donations continue to come in to the center at 2028 Elm Road in Homewood. 
 

The walk included one- and three-mile routes and featured interactive activities such as a bubble machine, limbo area and therapy . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
