Advocate South Suburban Hospital to host a Farmer’s Market on June 14

Advocate South Suburban Hospital is hosting two summer farmer’s markets this year. The first will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, in the hospital’s main parking lot at 17800 S. Kedzie Ave. in Hazel Crest.

Advocate is partnering with Cristina Foods, a wholesale food service distributor, to supply fresh produce and other items for the event.

Shoppers will have access to a variety of fresh foods like greens, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, jalapeno peppers, grapes, melons and honey. There will also be a limited selection of plants available for purchase.

“We are excited to offer this resource and to provide fresh, healthy foods to our local communities,” said Karen Clark, Vice President of Operations at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. “We are invested in keeping our community healthy and good health starts with a good diet.”

The second farmer’s market will take place Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the same time and location.

The items available at each farmer’s market are subject to change as the growing season progresses.

Hospital staff will be available to answer questions and offer recipe ideas and giveaways.
