The Cook County Assessor’s Office will host two assessment appeal seminars for Bloom Township residents on Tuesday, Sept. 26, and Wednesday, Oct.4. Bloom Township was one of 17 south and southwest areas where property was reassessed this year. Residents can have their questions about the reassessment process answered from 6 to 8 p.m. on both Sept. 26 and Oct. 4 at the Bloom Township Center, 425 Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.  Taxpayers are encouraged to bring their assessment notices. Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
