Homewood-Flossmoor High School was placed on “soft lockdown” at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, May 18, according to an email to parents from Superintendent Von Mansfield.
The move was in response to police activity at CVS, a pharmacy store at the corner of Kedzie Avenue and Flossmoor Road, across Kedzie from the school.
Soft lockdown refers to “securing the perimeter of the school,” Mansfield said. “The lockdown went into effect at the recommendation of the Flossmoor Police Department for approximately 13 minutes. Once we received notification from the police that there was no longer a threat to student safety, the lockdown was lifted at approximately 2:53 p.m.”
