“Buried Child,” winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979, will be staged by the Drama Group over two weekends in June.
The Drama Group will perform the play at 7:30 p.m. June 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17, and at 2 p.m. June 11 and 18. All productions will be at the Drama’s Group’s Milord Studio Theatre, 330 W. 202nd St., Chicago Heights.
The drama, written by American playwright Sam Shepard, follows a family trying desperately to keep its secrets despite an intrusion by an unsuspecting friend of one of the sons. It examines the fragmentation of the American nuclear family in a context of disappointment and disillusionment with the American Dream and the breakdown of expected norms and values.
