Flossmoor Station’s Wooden Hell brew pre-sale starts Sunday, with official release May 12

Sunday, April 30, is the pre-order day for Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery’s Wooden Hell, a barleywine brew.

Each 22-ounce bottle is $20, and patrons must purchase four bottles to participate in the pre-sale. Sales start at 10 a.m. at the brewery, 1035 Sterling Ave. Participants can get tickets at www.woodenhell2.brownpapertickets.com.

If you miss the pre-sale, the beer will be released on Pre-Dark Lord Day starting at 4 p.m. Friday, May 12. Dark Lord Day is a craft beer festival hosted by Three Floyds Brewing in Munster, Ind., on May 13.

Wooden Hell, originally released in 2006, is a 9.1 percent alcohol by volume barrel-aged barleywine that received a bronze ranking in its category at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival.

Flossmoor Station Brewmaster Ryan Czaja collaborated last summer with former Flossmoor Brewmaster and Wooden Hell founder Matt Van Wyk to brew Wooden Hell again. It has been aging in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels.

Van Wyk will personally christen the second coming of his brew at Pre-Dark Lord Day, an annual craft beer festival taking place on Flossmoor Station’s beer garden and caboose deck. Among the festivities will be craft beer and food sales, beer bottle exchanges and other special events.
