Homewood Police were searching the evening of Tuesday, April 11, for a missing person who was last seen near 175th Street and Halsted. Police announced Thursday morning that the man has been found and was unharmed.
Update Thursday from Homewood police: “Mr. Umbenstock was located in Chicago late in the evening on April 12, 2017 unharmed and in good health. He was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.”
The Homewood Police Criminal Investigations Unit was continuing its investigation and search Wednesday, April 12, for a 64-year-old missing man.
Thord Umbenstock was last seen near 175th Street and Halsted around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
Umbenstock has a mental health disorder history. He was at the Walmart with a group from Countryside Nursing Home in Dolton when he walked away around 3:30 p.m. heading north from the store, police said.
He was last seen between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on April 11 getting off a Pace bus at 95th and State Street in Chicago.
Umbenstock is approximately 6’ 3” tall and weighs 265 pounds. He was wearing a black and blue jacket, orange shirt and blue jeans.
