Hiroya Tsukamoto, a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Kyoto, Japan, will perform at 3 p.m. April 23 in a private home in Flossmoor.
Tsukamoto first studied banjo and then learned guitar. His talents were recognized when he won a scholarship in 2000 to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His music has been described by one music reviewer as “cinematic guitar poetry.”
He has gone on to record solo albums and several recordings with his group, Interoceanico, which focus on music that blends sounds from around the world. His group has played at the famed Blue Note in New York, and on Japanese National Television.
