Homewood residents can get half price on trees until noon Saturday

Homewood residents flocked to Dixie Highway and along Ridge Road on Tuesday to celebrate the nation's independence with the annual Fourth of July parade.  Homewood Events Manager Allisa Opyd estimated about 2,000 people watched the 52 parade entries make the mile-long trek from the St. Joseph Church parking lot to Izaak Walton Preserve.  "People started lining to get their space at 7 a.m." she said. Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
