The Homewood-Flossmoor High School Fine Arts Department is in a competition to have Gov. Bruce Rauner come to visit H-F classrooms.
Votes will be tabulated until 5 p.m. Friday, March 17, in the online contest. H-F is one of five Illinois schools in the running. Voting is at surveymonkey.com.
Matt Holdren, chair of the Fine Arts Department, urged residents to go online and vote and share the link. The videos and survey link are also on Gov. Rauner’s Facebook page.
“We had more than 100 videos sent in from around the state. It was too hard to narrow it down to 3 finalists, so we ended up with 5!” the governor said in a Facebook post.
“I get requests to visit schools both in person and on my social media pages, and I thought a Learning Tour would be a fun way to connect with the students of Illinois,” Rauner said at the time the contest was announced. “We all need to put children and education first. It’s the most important thing we can do as a community.”
A spokesman for the governor said he intends to visit the winning schools before the end of the school year.
