Flossmoor residents invited to share ideas for marketing the village

Flossmoor officials are turning to residents for help in revitalizing the village’s marketing efforts.

As a community branding project begins, residents are invited to two brainstorming sessions that will focus on what makes Flossmoor special. The meetings will take place at 7 p.m. March 16 and 22 at Flossmoor Village Hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road.

Assistant Village Manager Allison Deitch called the meetings “information gathering sessions” and said input will be used in developing a new logo and tagline for Flossmoor.

“In these meetings, we’ll be looking to gather input on our competitive position ― the strengths and vulnerabilities ― and those of our ‘competitor’ communities,” she said. “We’ll also be talking about the features of Flossmoor that most appeal to existing and future residents and those things that Flossmoor offers that no other community does.”

Village officials will be asking residents questions at the meetings, Deitch said.

Sample questions, she said, might deal with what convinced residents to move to Flossmoor, what other towns were considered and, “What do people say when you tell them you live in Flossmoor?”

Deitch said she has contacted residents who have spoken at past village board meetings about marketing to let them know about the meeting.

“We would like to gather input from as many residents and stakeholder groups as possible,” she said.

Advance signup is not required, but will help village officials in planning the meetings.
