Rep. Kelly says GOP health care proposal is poor substitute for ACA

A group of local residents will be seeking support this weekend to further the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Led by Al and June Fidanza of Homewood, about 20 volunteers will be accepting donations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10, at Walt's Food Center, 2345 183rd St. They also plan to have volunteers at the Homewood Farmers Market on Martin Avenue Square on Saturday. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
