The Homewood Public Library is hosting its second annual One-Minute Movie Festival scheduled for 7 p.m. June 29 at the library, 19717 Dixie Highway. “Creativity is the key,” said Kelly Campos of the Homewood Library staff. “Last year’s winners proved you can do some interesting presentations in 60 seconds.” The 2016 videos are at https://youtu.be/4_WIffNwZzM Projects will be submitted in various categories: families, youth, teen, new adult and adult. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
