League of Women Voters Hosting Candidate Forums

The Homewood-Flossmoor League of Women Voters is offering a host of candidate forums to help voters make informed decisions for the April 4 municipal and school board elections.Forums are set for:

  • Glenwood — 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, Calvary Baptist Church, 801 E. Glenwood-Dyer Rd.; mayoral candidates.
  • Flossmoor — 1:30 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 5, Flossmoor Village Hall; mayor and trustee candidates.
  • School District 161 — 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, Parker Junior High, 2810 School St., Flossmoor; four school board seats.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
