Tuesday is deadline for GSU theater’s wine benefit

Tuesday, Jan. 17, is the deadline to register for an event that will benefit the Center for Performing Arts (CPA) at Governors State University. Guests at Grape & Grain in Homewood from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, will be encouraged to purchase bottles of wine or beer for their personal collection or enjoyment at the event at a 15 percent discount. That 15 percent will then be donated to the Center. Appetizers will be provided. Guests will also enjoy a preview of the center’s show “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” set . . .

Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
