The Rooke Chapel Ringers of Bucknell University will perform a free concert Saturday, Jan. 14, performing on their seven octaves of finely crafted brass handbells.
The free performance will be at 7:30 p.m. at Flossmoor Community Church, 847 Hutchinson. The students are the guest of Aaron Messersmith of Homewood, who is a senior majoring in music education at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
Messersmith is a graduate of Hart School and Homewood-Flossmoor High School where he was a member of the Viking marching band and the jazz band.
The Rooke Chapel Ringers are considered to be one of the best collegiate handbell ensembles in the country. Their program will include a varied repertoire from reflective hymns and masterworks to Christmas pieces.
The community is welcome to a reception after the concert.
