LifeSource is looking for blood donors to meet the needs of trauma victims and others.

The measured snowfall on Monday had a negative impact on blood donations.

“We’re asking all eligible donors to make a donation appointment now to help ensure blood products are available for patients in need,” said LifeSource Executive Director Eva Quinley.

LifeSource community donor centers are at 2 River Plaza in Lansing and 11120 W. 179th St. in Orland Park.

LifeSource has an immediate need for donors with type O negative blood because it can help patients with any blood type. A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood, so O negative donors are needed to donate often, she said.

Blood donors must be at least 18 years old. With parental consent, 16- and 17-year-olds can also donate.

For information on blood donations, or to make an appointment, contact LifeSource at 877-543-3768 or visit www.lifesource.org.
