Kristi DeLaurentiis has been selected to take the helm of the South Suburban Mayors & Managers Association (SSMMA) starting Jan. 1.
Homewood and Flossmoor are members of the council of governments organization that manages SSMMA. The organization serves 45 municipalities with assistance on a range of issues, including transportation, legislation, economic development, land use and housing and community development.
DeLaurentiis will take over from Executive Director Ed Paesel who is retiring from the job he’s had for more than 17 years.
The new SSMMA executive director has extensive government relations, community development and planning experience. She is president of KDL Consulting, Inc., a policy guidance, technical assistance and government consulting firm.
DeLaurentiis previously was the director of government affairs and community development for Metro Strategies, Inc., and the Metropolitan Planning Council’s government relations director.
She currently is a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning’s Land Use Committee and chairs the American Cancer Society’s Lakeshore Division.
The Lansing resident has volunteered her time with the Illinois Nature Preserve Commission, the Illinois Digital Divide Elimination Advisory Committee, and served on the Governors State University Board of Trustees.
She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Governors State University.
