Pianist and guest conductor set for Nov. 19 IPO performance

The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will be under the direction of Alastair Willis for its 7:30 p.m. concert on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Lincoln-Way West Performing Arts Center, 21701 Gougar Road in New Lenox.

He is the second of five conductor candidates to direct the orchestra this year. The program will include works by Borodin, Tchaikovsky and Bartok.

Guest pianist William Wolfram will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Concerto No. 1.”

Willis will give a free pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets range from $5 for students with ID to $55. IPO also offers a $25 ticket purchased in advance.  For additional information, visit ipomusic.org or call 708-481-7774.
