Zone Comics & Games plans grand reopening to mark rejuvenation

The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, is hosting an educational program, “Know the Ten Signs: Early Detection Matters,” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Waterford Estates, 17400 S. Kedzie in Hazel Crest.

The warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease are often dismissed as side effects of normal aging. If individuals believe they, or someone they know, is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, this program will provide the facts about Alzheimer’s.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
