Homewood mayor dons Cubs jersey to settle friendly Series bet

Cubs star Ben Zobrist's clutch hit in Game 7 of the World Series on Tuesday sealed the fate of the Cleveland Indians — and Homewood Mayor Richard Hofeld.With the Cubs' victory, Hofeld, a lifelong White Sox fan, lost a bet with Village Manager Jim Marino, a devoted Cubs fan. The result?   • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
