H-F students accept clothing donations for Jones Community Center

If you have a gently used item of clothing, the DECA student organization at Homewood-Flossmoor High Schools asks you to make a donation in the annual Thanksgiving clothing drive.

Winter wear, pants and shirts, and white polos and blue pants and skirts for school uniforms are especially appreciated, said Olivia Bergeron, a member of DECA.

Donations will be made to The Jones Center of Chicago Heights to assist children, adults, families and senior citizens.

From Nov. 7 through 16, clothing will be collected at three drop-off points: Flossmoor Station Restaurant & . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
