DeLuca to host women’s self-defense seminar Oct. 29

Online and in-person permit sales for 2017 for Cook County Forest Preserves picnic permits and camping reservations will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Information about the forest preserves and online registration information is at fpdcc.com/permits.

In-person applicants can start a line at forest preserves headquarters, 536 N. Harlem in River Forest, at 7 a.m. Applicants must have a valid state identification card or driver's license. Accepted payment methods for permits are cash, check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
