Walmart hiring about 200 workers for Homewood store

The Homewood-Flossmoor Viking Choir will raise its collective voice at the annual ecumenical Community Thanksgiving Service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at St. Joseph Church, 17951 Dixie Highway in Homewood.

Local clergy will lead the Thanksgiving celebration. The service is hosted by the South Suburban Interfaith Ministerial Association.

Free will offerings will be given to social service agency Respond Now.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
