SSFS candlelight vigil to kick-off domestic violence awareness month

Friends of Patricia Lundstrom of Homewood are holding a fundraising event at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, to help her family with the costs of cancer treatment.The event at Flossmoor Community House, 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor will include entertainment, food and raffles.Lundstrom has battled cancer for several years and is currently receiving hospice care, according to organizer Marie Jarrell. Money . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
