The James Hart School baseball team was victorious in the regional championship game. The Homewood team defeated Flossmoor’s Parker Junior High team 6-5.
The game started Monday and was called at 5-5 in the eighth inning because of darkness. Play resumed on Tuesday at Lions Park with Homewood taking the win with a run in the ninth inning.
The Hart Panthers will next play Mokena at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the sectional championship title. The game is at Summit Hill Junior High in Frankfort. In 2015, the District 153 team advanced to the state finals.
The seventh and eighth graders are coached by Hart teachers Grant Sikkema and Ric Druse.
