Flossmoor Community Church hosts GSU professor to address Syrian history, culture

A civil war has placed Syria in the headlines the past five years, but few Americans are knowledgeable about the history and culture of this Middle East country. Dr. Khalil Marrar, an assistant professor at Governors State University, will enlighten guests on Syria at an 11 a.m. forum on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road.

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.
