Public invited to Homewood PTA general meeting Wednesday

Homewood PTA will hold its annual general meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. The James Hart Panther Choir will sing, new teachers will be introduced and Matthew Rodriquez from the Illinois PTA will speak about the importance of fathers' involvement in PTA.  The meeting is open to the public. Only members can vote during the short business portion of the meeting, however. Membership materials will be available at the meeting. The meeting will take place at James Hart School, 18820 Morgan St., in the wood floor gym. Light refreshments will be served.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
