For brave souls who dare, Apollo Park will once again be the scene of red-hot zombie action – and it’s all for a good cause.

My Big Fat Greek Zombie Run, a fundraiser for the 2017 spring break overseas trip for the Homewood-Flossmoor High School band, is slated at the park from 1 . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
