County police investigating robbery in unincorporated Rich Township

A Cook County Sheriff’s Department SWAT unit responded early Thursday, July 28, following a reported armed robbery in the 3700 block of 192nd Street in unincorporated Rich Township,

According to a sheriff’s department spokesman, the county’s Hostage Barricade Terrorism Team investigated a report that armed suspects were hiding out in a house on that block, located in an area just outside the Flossmoor village limits. The HBT team made its appearance at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday.

No one was found at the vacant home, the spokesman said.

The house is located in an unincorporated area between the village’s Flossmoor Hills and Ballantrae neighborhoods.

An armed robbery was reported in the unincorporated area at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. The spokesman said the sheriff’s department is continuing its investigation into that incident.
