U.S. Rep. Kelly applauds Jackson Park location for Obama Library

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) issued the following statement regarding the decision to locate the Barack Obama Presidential Center in historic Jackson Park. The location is within Kelly’s 2nd Congressional District.

“I’m thrilled that President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have selected Jackson Park as the site for the Presidential library and museum.  The decision clearly demonstrates that the President has not forgotten his political roots on Chicago’s South Side and that his passion for building strong communities will continue to play a central role after his presidency.

“The Obama Presidential Center, together with the Pullman National Monument, established by the President last year, will help transform the South Side and a significant portion of my congressional district. My thanks to the President and first lady for recognizing the enormous potential of the South Side and the many hardworking and talented residents who live there.”
