Drama Group presents ‘Dogfight’ in August

The Drama Group is presenting the emotionally charged musical “Dogfight,” a story of raw emotions and compassion that surrounds a game played by three Marines before they ship out to Vietnam.

The show, directed by Curt and Tammy Lang, is presented over two weekends at the Studio Theatre, 303 W. 202nd St. in Chicago Heights. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 and 2 p.m. Aug 7, 13 and 14.

“Dogfight” is set in November 1963. The Marines set out for one final boys’ night of debauchery, partying and maybe a little trouble.

But, when Cpl. Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress, he entangles her in a game that can win him a bet. After the contest, he realizes he’s hurt her deeply, and it is Rose who rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and understanding.
