Flossmoor police are investigating a July 7 armed robbery in which a pizza deliveryman was held up at gunpoint outside a vacant home.

According to a police report the Domino’s deliveryman was bringing two pizzas to an address in the 18800 block of Harding Avenue. He arrived at the address at 10:26 p.m. but found no one at home.

The victim told police he continued on his route but called the phone number of the person who had ordered the pizzas. That person called back a short time later and asked the deliveryman to return to the address, saying that he had not heard him arrive at the house the first time, police said.

When the deliveryman returned to the address, he saw a man come out of the darkness between the house and detached garage, police said. The assailant pointed a black semiautomatic gun at the deliveryman and told him to lie on the ground, police said. The deliveryman complied with that order.

The robber told the deliveryman to hand over his cash, which came to about $15, police said. The robber asked the victim about his cell phone but said he would not take it, according to the report. The robber told the deliveryman to continue lying on the ground for two minutes while he left the scene of the robbery. The robber then took the Domino’s delivery bag and walked away, according to the report.

The victim contacted police after returning to the Domino’s outlet in Homewood, police said. Shortly afterward, a Flossmoor officer went to the Harding Avenue address, which he found to be a vacant house.

Nearby, the officer found the Domino’s delivery bag, which still contained one pizza. He also found $1.21 in coins scattered near the bag.

The robber is described as about 5 foot 9 inches tall and in his early to mid-20s. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a hooded shirt and a white bandanna.
