Flossmoor help wanted July 2016

Ingalls Health System is planning a merger with the University of Chicago Medical Center. Ingalls Hospital in Harvey has been an independent community hospital for 92 years.

Rep. Will Davis, D-Homewood, invites the community to give testimony on the proposed merger at a community meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Gloria Taylor Banquet Hall, 14821 Broadway in Harvey.

The meeting is being conducted by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board. Comments will be considered when the board meets Sept. 13 to give its decision on the proposed . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
