If there’s a beer heaven, it might be located at Irwin Park in Homewood on Saturday.
Homewood Hop Fest, sponsored by the Southland Chamber of Commerce, will bring 27 craft brewers to the park and community center at 18120 Highland Ave. from 3 to 6:30 p.m.
Included will be award-winning local brewery Flossmoor Station and Vice District Brewing, which is in the process of setting up a brewery and tap room in downtown Homewood.
“We’re so excited to bring this new craft beer festival to Homewood,” said Zoe Jacobs, digital media manager for BrewFest Partners, the company tapped to organize the event.
“There will be something for everyone — not just hop-heads — though they’ll have a lot to choose from, too.”
In addition to 3-ounce samples of craft brews, attendees can purchase food from local vendors and enjoy beer-centric activities and live music from local act LEGACY.
“The fest will be a great chance to try new beers as well as old favorites and to discover breweries from near and far that you can’t find on shelves or in your favorite bar,” Jacobs said.
VIP tickets are $65 and include early admission into the festival with other special perks during the VIP hour from 2 to 3 p.m., including 30 sample tokens, appetizers and a commemorative pint glass.
General admission tickets are $45 and include festival entry, 20 sampling tokens and a commemorative pint glass.
Designated driver tickets are $15 and include festival entry and complimentary water and soda. Designated drivers must be 21 or older and cannot consume alcohol at the event.
Participating breweries include 3 Sheeps Brewing, 350 Brewing Company, Ale Syndicate Brewers, Ale Àsylum, Arcade Brewery, Baderbrau, Banging Gavel Brews, Black Belt Brewery, Blue Island Beer Company, Blue Nose Brewery, Brickstone Brewery, Crazy Mountain, Evil Horse, Firestone Walker, Flossmoor Station Brewing Company, Half Acre Beer Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, McKenzies Hard Cider, Noon Whistle Brewing, One Trick Pony Brewery, Pollyanna Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing, Sprecher Brewing Company, Twisted Hippo, Urban Legend Brewing Company, Vice District Brewing and Wild Blossom Meadery.
