Kataras celebrated her 90th birthday with a party Saturday, July 23, at Salem Lutheran Church in Homewood. Kataras and her family operated restaurants in Homewood for more than six decades. The first, Homewood Sweet Shop, was on the southeast corner of Ridge Road and Dixie Highway. Later, the business moved to 1944 Ridge Road as Tom's Family Diner.
